Dedicated to the propagation
of a better understanding among all the peoples of the earth, and of those who
are not of earth.
During recent months inhabitants of the non-communist
portions of the earth have been exposed to a lengthy argument, the two sides of
which are perhaps best represented by the slogans: "I'd rather be dead
than red" and "I'd rather be red than dead." Many of those who
subscribe to the first slogan are persons popularly known as anti-communists,
persons who sincerely believe that communism is the embodiment of total evil
and must therefore be fought at all costs. Under the "rather be dead than
red" banner in the United States are such groups as the Daughters of the
American Revolution, the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade, the Minute Men and
Minute Women and the much discussed John Birch Society, along with hundreds of other
organizations.
On the other end of the scales are persons who
periodically attack the anti-communists at "extremists," persons who
lean toward the "rather be red than dead" philosophy in spirit,
whether or not they actually admit it. A majority of this group are persons who
believe quite sincerely that the rules of democracy and equality for all men
must be preserved, even if it means giving communists equal rights with
non-communists. This group fears that the anti-communists
2
UNDERSTANDING
are violating democratic principles in their efforts to
crush the enemy-communism.
In between these two groups lies the overwhelming
majority, persons who agree partially with one side and partially with the
other, or who do not think about the situation at all.
In viewing this predicament, it may become apparent to one
familiar with New Age Groups that we do in fact have a small model of the
non-communist world right here in our own field. There are those among us who
actively support anti-communist organizations including the John Birch Society.
There are an equal number of us who support those desiring to abolish
anti-communist organizations and such legislative bodies as the U. S. House
Un-American Activities Committee.
To some it might therefore appear that our New Age field
is hopelessly divided. But let us think, is this really the case?
Could the diversity of political opinion present among New
Age people not indicate that our movement transcends petty bounds and has the
ability to capture the interest of persons from all areas of thought? Could it
not also indicate a lesson for all of us to learn, that our seemingly
conflicting loyalties are really not so far apart?
We should perhaps above all hold admiration for those who
do not throw full support to one side or the other but rather see the good in
both sides and support that good. Sometimes we are so busy fighting for the
kind of social order we think best that we become lost in the tall grass
surrounding our beliefs and fail to see the good points on the other side. Is
it not the most basic lesson in understanding to be able to place oneself in
the shoes of another and learn to understand how he thinks and why he feels as
he does?

The controversial date of February 4, 1962, may
already have passed into history when this issue of the magazine reaches
its readers.
Even though the day may have passed, however, the controversy, and the
problems
created by it, will still be with us.
A major conjunction of the planets is, historically, a
time of sudden and sometimes violent change. Some of these changes are
FEBRUARY,
1962
3
obvious from the moment they occur, while others are so
subtle that their significance may not be fully appreciated until several years
after the event. Also, the events do not necessarily occur on the exact day
when the conjunction reaches maximum, but may be spread out over a period of
several weeks before and after the day of maximum linearity. In fact it would
appear that some of these changes may have already come about, and others will
probably follow in quick succession.
The almost total political silence of the official organs
and spokesmen of the Soviet Union during the last two weeks seems to indicate: that
profound changes in the communist `line' and strategy may be in the making. Whether
these changes will be for the better or worse, remains to be seen.
At the present moment, the weather man appears determined
to put most of the nation into cold storage for an indefinite period of time.
Whether or not this fact has any connection with the approaching conjunction,
will probably be a matter of controversy for some time to come.
Many people throughout the world have made predictions of dire
calamities due to occur on Feb. 4. The nature of these calamities is as diverse
as the natures of those who make the predictions. Some of these calamities may
well come to pass, many others probably will not.
The prediction that, the western portion of the State of California.
may slip off into the ocean will, we trust, turn out to be one of the latter
group. Your editor is scheduled to lecture in Berkeley, Calif., on Feb. 4, and
it would prove very inconvenient if he were forced to swim, either to or from
the lecture.

Astronomers Find Strange New Star
PASADENA,
Calif., Dec. 26, 1961 (UPI) -Three astronomers at the California Institute of
Technology have found a strange star - so odd it may take a whole new study of
high energy nuclear reactions to explain it.
Dr. Jesse Greenstein, Dr. Jun Jugaku and Dr. Wallace Sargent
recently completed a spectroscopic analysis of the star called 3 Centauri A.
This is what they found:
-The stellar object, which is in a cluster of 100 to 200
normal stars about 3,500 trillion miles from earth, is about 20 million years
old.
-It does not rotate, although its atmospheric temperature
of 27,000 degrees is three times hotter than the sun. Hot stars usually rotate
rapidly.
-The star is the first in which the rare isotope helium 3
and in which krypton, a product of atomic fission have been found with
certainty.
-The atmosphere of 3 Centauri A has 10,000 times more of
the very rare element gallium than normal, 100 times more phosphorus, 5 times
more nitrogen and 4 times more iron. It is short on normal amounts of oxygen
and helium. The star has five times the mass and radius of the earth's sun.
-Although it is the same age and luminosity of the
so--called magnetic stars-it has no magnetic field.
Sargent theorized it is possible that "the star's
gaseous atmosphere has structures similar to sunspots ..in which very powerful
magnetic fields exist."
Greenstein believes 3 Centauri A has so many composition
peculiarities it will take a ``whole new study of high energy nuclear
reactions" to analyze the find.

Do You Suppose There Are Invisible Animals?
(From "Small Worlds Around Us" column by
Lynn M. Watkins, January 16, 1962)
We have reached a stage in our enlightenment where we
must. admit there are still horizons we have not seen. Sooner or later some new
technique may be discovered whereby man can penetrate the veil of invisibility
and observe a host of things he never hitherto expected.
The microscope pierced a hole in the curtain; man peeked
into the unknown. He observed the private life of many of the microbes. Even
then, people who had never seen them hardly believed such things existed. At
first they laughed and called the micro-hunter a crackpot.
The telescope pulled the curtain aside a little more, to
let man see some of the far-away mysteries of the universe. Many of us have
been apt to discredit. what the astronomer knows to be scientific fact. Many of
us have labored under the supposition that what we hadn't seen, did not exist.
We are too apt to get the idea that those things we do not know about, are only
figments of someone's overactive imagination.
It's a little difficult to comprehend that beneath the
visual range of the microbes is another group of even smaller living things,
ones that we have little knowledge of so far, the viruses. Possibly there are
others more minute and more elusive; we mostly guess at what they are and how
they operate.
Conversely, would it not be remotely possible that at the
other end of this mysterious line there are larger animals, composed of fish,
insects, birds or perhaps mammals, that are invisible?
Seems ridiculous, but the majority of people laughed when
someone said they saw tiny, wriggling creatures, evidently alive, swimming in a
drop of water. Air, supposedly fresh and clean, does however, contain many
micro-organisms.
A fine cloth filter, waved in the air or carried aloft on
the wings of a plane, traps many strange looking little "things." The
air is known to be saturated with spores of molds, bacteria and perhaps many
lesser things that were hardly suspected to be there at all.

The present advancement of technology in the current era
is resulting in a cultural transformation, and a new philosophical
interpretation of man's place in the Universe. To reevaluate and assess this
data would involve a complex combination of various studies of man. The growth
and expansion of civilization has not only resulted in the present structure of
modern technology, but in the deterioration of spiritual awareness and ethical
motivation. The instant and rapid dispersal of information by means of our
modern communication system has caused the disintegration of isolated groups of
people and has increased social intercourse. But opposing ideologies have
divided the world, the social contact has been violated, and Communism and
Democracy vie for survival. The deadly game of war wages, and victory is a
defeat for Mankind.
Ever since the evolution of modern man from the epoch of
the Neanderthal and Zinjanthropus, early forms of man, to the present century,
man has searched for both tools and weapons. Man now thinks himself civilized,
but often his emotions are lethal and his thoughts barbaric. His tools are now
products of his stream-lined technology and his sub-molecular physics. His
weapons are the product of the same. The world is being propelled by his tools
and weapons toward total destruction or endless progression. To survive Man
must, assist his fellows, for man is an integrated family of cells,
inter-dependent upon each other for their survival and welfare. War is the
worst kind of contra-survival activity, peaceful collaboration is at spacious
levels of pro-survival activity.
Man is now emerging into a new environment, both in his
penetration into space, and in his discovery of psi phenomena. Here man
approaches independent realities; here man's mind is monitored by both sidereal
and psychological time; here man discovers the creation and projection of
mental space, and the extent and vastness of outer space. The current ominous
conflict between nations assumes an apparent insignificance in the worlds of
space. The subtle energy consumed in a stellar conflagration seems greater than
man's meager efforts. But man is a master, and the stars are the servants of
his science.
Let us realize the reality of others' viewpoints,
feelings, and
10
UNDERSTANDING
thoughts and understand their reasons. Human behavior,
whether rational or irrational, has causes which can be determined and
understood. If we recognize our responsibility in assisting the survival and
welfare of our fellow man, our benefits would be great. We must effectively
communicate with our fellows at all levels as assistance to human relations. If
we comply with universal law, man will emerge a galaxy of light. The effort
will yield the results.

BY WHICH THE WORLD CAN BE MADE A BETTER PLACE IN WHICH TO
LIVE
(The following tied for fifth place in
Understanding's essay contest last gear.)
The average student of Understanding dreams of the
ultimate goal-when real brotherhood will be established on a mass basis. Some
dream of mass Saucer landings. Others, of the Saviour returned to earth. While
these objectives are most worthwhile, the intervening days roll on in
established patterns. And each day is a cell in the overall picture. We can
never bring that day back. Likewise, each human soul sees the world through
another human soul. All people are not up to the concept of mass Christianity.
Such a person judges Christianity individually, by those whom he meets in his
daily grind.
The writer is reminded of a small incident which occurred
in a Safeway store, the universal Mecca for all, from perhaps a lone guest from
another planet, to the ordinary man on the street from planet Earth.
The writer was on her daily shopping expedition. Tired
from work, bent only on making her purchases and getting home. A wizened little
man asked her where to find the broccoli. Said she, "It's at the end of
the line," pointing to the far end of the vegetable display. He was
groping his way around-when she noted the white cane ...
FEBRUARY,
1962
11
Spiritually embarrassed, the writer hastily took the man's
arm and led him to his desired destination. She told him about the size of the
bundle, the price and noted that he was able to feel his way to the checking
stand. His white cane was tipped with red-the insignia which denotes only the
near blind.
She was reminded that this is the way a great many of us
are near blind. We hasten about our daily chores, intent only on what concerns
us. We are in the world of our own individual mind. We may occasionally
perceive the need of another, but. we are tired, in a hurry. "Someone else
will care for the situation," we tell ourselves. "Let Charlie do
it," is the universal slogan. And that is the way the world is today. Too
many "let Charlie do it " We dream of the grandiose scale, while the
small daily task of love passes unheeded. We're tired, weary and discouraged
with the Cold War, depressed with gouging prices, the frustration of facing the
granite wall of misunderstanding, distrust, and the sword of Damocles.
But it behooves us to remember that the world is but the
composite of individuals. The kindly deed sparks the beneficiary of that deed,
thus causing his own light to spread out in a force field. Thought is THE world.
Like chain reaction, the grateful heart reaches out to another. Soon,
combustion takes place. This may be the long way around, but it is often the
shortest way home. At least there is nothing to lose. We are not going to
hasten the Golden Age by wishful thinking. We may as well work at it along the
path. To give hope to even one weary traveler along the way has added one more
impulse to a thought force which is part of the whole. The finest example is
that, of daily, individual expression of brotherhood. It cost nothing but a few
steps out of the way. The sacrifice of prearranged plans, and perhaps the
efforts of a smile in the voice to another whose burdens are heavier than ours.
From a bundle of broccoli to the Kingdom of Heaven is a long way, but as the
Chinese say in substance, a journey of a million miles starts with the first
step...

(Following is a report from the Cosmic Brotherhood
Association of Japan on the recent visit of George Hunt
Williamson to Japan. The first portion of the article is a
reprint of a news report in the Mainichi Daily News, Aug. 28, 1961, translated from Japanese. -The Editors)
Dr. George Hunt Williamson, who arrived in Japan on August
16 at the invitation of the Cosmic Brotherhood Association (CBA) of Japan,
lectured on "Mighty Sings and Wonders" before a capacity audience at
the Asahi Kodo Hall in Tokyo Sunday (Aug. 27) afternoon.
The lecture-meeting was held in commemoration of Japanese edition
of his book, "Other Tongues-Other Flesh." He delivered the lecture
after showing some 170 slides, illustrations which depict the arrival of UFO.
Dr. Williamson, who served with the U.S. Army Air Corps
during World War II as radio director, said: "I firmly believe in the
existence of UFO and the arrival of space people. We must inform this to all
the peoples of the world. The Japanese people have had a great inheritance and
the Japanese people originally came from outer space. So Japan has a most
important role that is indicated by Japan's present contributions to science
and industry. Japan has a divine destiny to fulfill."
Williamson, who has traveled around the world conducting
expeditions, researches and has given lectures in many countries, said: "I
have discovered that there is a wonderful `Plan of the Ages' which has operated
on earth down through time, and this divine plan is converging on our day and
age."
He pointed out: "I have never agreed with the
materialist who says that `man is only an animal with the illusions of a soul'
and my research has convinced me that beyond any possibility of doubt there is
a creative intelligence in the universe and the "Hand of God' has actually
reached down and become an instrument in the affairs of mankind."
The author of many books ("Saucers Speak,"
"UFO Confidential,"
FEBRUARY,
1962
13
"Other Tongues-Other Flesh," "Road in the
Sky", Secret Places of the Lion ") and other articles added:
"There is abundant scientific evidence that this guiding `Hand' has placed
its visible `signature' on the records and artifacts of all civilizations of
the past and present. I also found that it is a fantastic legacy for mankind
today that comes out of the very beginnings of humanity on earth. The implications
of such a heritage are staggering. Actual scientific discoveries not only prove
that there is a God, but also prove that this God is bringing His Divine Plan
to a magnificent finale in our time."
WILLIAMSON IN JAPAN-being his main purpose to research for
ancient Japan, Williamson had visits to three parts of this country where he
was able to discover many an important thing helping his scientific study about
the past Earth through many kinds of proofs and evidences. That was arranged
and accompanied by CBA. First part of them is of Ainu tribe in Hokkaido. They
called at Ainu villages where they saw their interesting treasures and at the
time they heard the legend of descent of Sky-God. Also, existing giant ainu in
deep wood gave an idea snow-man in this land to Williamson and others. Second,
it was nice trip in Kyushu where they could be touched with pure origin of
Japanese. Mt. Kirishima and Mt. Aso, famous volcanoes are there. Japan has, her
treasures in myth showing her real ancestors in past, and also she expects
something in near future, which is possible, Williamson said. Third,
sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara and Ise. Old shrines and refined temples in these
areas clearly gave them fresh feeling, especially by the stone garden in Ryouanji
temple, Kyoto, they were deeply moved really. Williamson and staff members of
CBA had spent a night to see the Kabuki, one of the typical arts of Japan, when
he got a strong impression different completely from western. At Sayouara Party
held in Toyko, Sept. 22, Williamson said, "I have found the Japanese man
to be a strong, strange and wonderful man ... he is unique in the world, for he
is a two-sided individual, yet he is a perfect man... a man compounded of
cherry blossoms and iron!" He left Yokohama Sept 25 morning by ship for U.

The UFOs are here to wake us up, to lead us from
destruction, and to show us the way to a glorious new life. The information
received from Etherian (extra-terrestrial) sources provides tangible evidence
that these indeed are the intentions of our space visitors, The mystics and
spiritual leaders down through history have attempted to achieve the same
goals, but have had very little success. Now the forces of Light must not fail.
The time is close at hand when the solar system will pass
into a new region of space in which cosmic conditions are such as to
revolutionize our entire way of life. There is evidence on all sides of
tremendous changes that must take place to prepare this planet for its
graduation. The principal change that must, take place is within the
consciousness of every man.
Earthman, in his present moral and spiritual state, cannot
enter this new cycle and will be destroyed should he attempt to do so. He must.
raise his spiritual awareness to a point where he will be able to properly
control the new mental energies that will shortly engulf this planet. If he
does not, he must necessarily pass through the transition called death because
his lower frequency mind will be unable to control the higher frequency mental
energies pouring through it.
There is so much to be done and so little time to do it.
Our spiritual leaders could not do it alone. The UFOs had to come to wake us
up, to show us the radiant life that could be ours if we returned to be the
image of God which we were originally intended to be.
The study of saucers is not the way to the attainment of
higher consciousness. It only points the way, as a guidepost. One will not
enter the New Age merely because one believes in and studies saucers. The
important thing is to put the teachings of the Etherians and the great mystics
of Earth into practice by living them.
The value of a good knowledge of the extra-terrestrial
visitation should not be ignored however. If one truly leads a pure unselfish
life of love and service to his fellow man, one does not need to know a thing
about space ships or other planets. On the other hand, if one seeks the higher
life and yet knows not the way, it would be
FEBRUARY,

well to look at this guidepost, to listen to the great
pure philosophies of other worlds, to gaze in wonder and aspire to the glorious
way of living on the higher realms. But after one has gathered the enthusiasm
and knowledge to follow the higher path, one should cease merely marveling at
the great perfection on other planes, and act to bring this perfection into
manifestation. This is the great Path, whose full revealing is the primary
mission of the UFOs.

Civilization at the Crisis
Men of Earth, open your eyes
The truth must not be hidden by lies.
Your salvation is now nigh
To refuse truth is surely to die
The forces of unbalance have ruled too long
Continually interchanging right and wrong
Natural law will take its course
Correcting unbalance, ere it becomes worse.
Thundering cataclysms will come soon
To carry evil to its destined doom.
The only hope amid this strife
Is rhythmic balance of each man's life.
Then, let earth quake and thunder roar
Purified man stands safe with God forevermore.

UNDERSTANDING
Since about 1940, we have witnessed the corning of a great
many space ships to our earth, and many witnesses have written hundreds of
books about them and their occupants.
To deny their presence is to deny thousands of Government
Records of their reality and stick one's head in the sand. One book alone;
written by a former air force official, cites at least 200 incidents of air
force flyers' observations, some of which were made at a thousand yards.
What is the meaning of all these observations? There must
be some significance and a study of them reveals the truth. To arrive at the
truth, we have to use our Bible and what are termed the New Revelations,
particularly the book written in 1881, named the Oahspe, and which enlarges on
the Bible of two thousand years ago. The Bible itself, asserts in several
places, that in the last days "They shall all know me, from the least to
the greatest." In order for us to have some idea of the Father's many,
kingdoms, both material and heavenly, it was necessary that. the space ships be
used. This age is so steeped in materialism that only a demonstration of space
ships and their occupants, would awaken us from our deep sleep.
The result of the presence of space ships or the space books,
has caused men to look up as never before. We have taken our eyes from earth
for at least a few minutes a day. Those from other earths have dictated to
various persons on our earth, a whole series of books dealing with their state
of living, and which in many cases reveals a civilization far in advance of our
own. If you do not give these books some attention, you are not only a skeptic,
but you hold back the progress of universal unity, and the brotherhood of man,
all arising in one Great Father of all.
On the other hand, if you read all the books now
available, you will develop judgment and will find no mysteries in the Father's
universe. Books now available about the created heavens show, without mistake,
that those who have arisen to enviable knowledge in the heavens have
interplanetary interests and labors to perform. They labor endlessly to raise
their fellows in universal understanding and brotherhood. These same books
reveal that many who enter
FEBRUARY,

17
the heavens immediately after death of the physical body
do so with skepticism and ignorance of the Fatherhood of the Creator and the
brotherhood of men. They also have to be taught by their superior brothers.
They who cannot look above materialism are little superior
to animals. But little by little, and in various ways, many are being awakened
to appreciate the heavens. It will be done one way or another, for the Father
has so willed that none of his children shall remain forever in darkness.
It is nothing to be proud of to say that we will not
co-operate with circumstances as they come. Fact of the matter is we are sowing
to the whirlwind of ignorance and will reap ignorance within ourselves. The
heavens and the space ships are all one picture; be wise and put the picture
together; many are doing this very thing. As usual, those that venture out into
the unknown to solve the picture, meet with success. Man was intended to be an
image of the Father, and this image he can be if he makes an attempt, and is
not bound by too many preconceived ideas and plain errors.

Sometimes something pretty wonderful comes to people who
know very little. This morning when first entering my lovely aqua, beige, coral
and frothy white curtained kitchen, the first thought was coffee and a
cigarette. Now my real desire has been to be as altogether lovely as it is
possible for a woman to be-inside and out - yet my first thought was for coffee
and a cigarette! The breath of me must be so obnoxious to a non-smoker that it
must be all he can do to get very close, and it must take all of his control to
keep from fleeing ... (Have you ever smelled an ash tray when it needs washing?
Try it sometime.. . )
Now it was very early in the morning-the time when all is
quiet, and do you know what came to me when I asked myself ... "I really
don't. get any satisfaction out of smoking-my insides feel like an old end of
smoked meat-my stomach is upset- I'm really tired of
18
UNDERSTANDING
smoking, WHY DO I DO IT? And then this came: "YOU
HAVE GIVEN IT STRENGTH." Because I know that I shouldn't because I have
been told by an excellent doctor that one day the "saturation point"
is reached (if you smoke more, it's sooner) and then the body can throw off the
poison no more, and then cancer, or something else. Because I have given it,
power-have thought about it, given it my attention, struggled with it, fought
it, tried to overcome it, it has gained power with each thought. Thoughts are a
form of energy, and when we direct thought toward something, with each one,
thought's "object" has been given power.
On Easter morning, I came to my breakfast table and sat,
down to have a cigarette and you know what came to me then? "You come not
to worship me but to destroy the temple."
I have never been particularly "religious," yet
I know now what Jesus the Christ meant when he said the two commandments most
important were to "Love the Lord thy God with all thy mind, and all thy
soul, and all thy heart" for if we, like children, keep our Father in mind
with all His boundless kindness, His natural gifts to mankind-we will add to
His power in this weary world ... Why are we so STUPID as to give our attention
and our thought. energy to evil? Why do we read of accidents, crimes and
disasters in our newspapers on the front pages. .. is our will being sold for
money? Are we ourselves selling our birthright, the right of free choice as to
thinking and acting, for a mess of pottage when we, by CHOICE, think and direct
our attention to that which will destroy this gift of life which we have been
given? For our own sakes, let's tune our radio in to soul-satisfying
things-let's think of some kindness someone has done-some lovely thing in
Nature; let's obey the other commandment that Jesus gave us, to "love thy
neighbor as thyself "-let's see him and find out what. he needs that we
can do something about-let's visit him, take something to share with him, baby
sit or talk with an older person in his household, help him in time of sickness
or problems-let's start right where we are. Why not? Why not strengthen that
which we really like-listen to that which is of good report, see that which is
altogether lovely, so that when we face ourselves honestly and look in the
mirror of ourselves, we can say "YOU HAVE GIVEN STRENGTH TO IT."

New Unit
Understanding has a new unit, #50, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
which is starting off with quite a large membership. President is Adale S.
Vaughan, 925 E. Wells, Milwaukee 2, Wis. Other officers are Donald W. Bangs,
vice-president; Carolyn J. Anich, secretary, and Margaret Straub, treasurer.
News of Other Units
EL MONTE, unit #1, had between 40 and 45 visitors at its
Christmas party. Scott Brownell, president of the Elsinore, Calif., unit, led
group carol singing. Dan Fry gave a talk. Presents were collected and later
donated to needy families in the El Monte area. During January the unit heard a
talk by Rev. Gene Albright on "How to Know or Measure Intercommunications
From or With UFOs."
SAN MATEO, unit #2, has moved to Nevada City, Calif.
President John Barnes, his wife Celia and several others made the move. A
number of the old members are retaining their affiliation with the unit in its
new location.
VISTA, unit #4, entertained Riley Crabb, director of Borderland
Science Research Associates, for a January lecture on "Farewell Flying
Saucers, Welcome New Age Science." The talk was illustrated with slides.
INGLEWOOD, unit #15, presented another program of tape recorded
20
UNDERSTANDING
messages from space beings at. its January lecture
meeting. These programs have proved very popular.
RIVERSIDE, unit 22, helped a needy family as a Christmas
project, providing the parents and six children with clothes, food and toys. Commented
one of the unit members, "That is one of the fascinating facets of
Understanding. There are so many angles so many channels through which to
work."
SAN JOSE, unit #25, heard a talk by Harold Freeman during
January. His topic was "You and the New Age in 1962."
BUFFALO (N. Y.), unit #37, would seem to have had an
interesting experience in the "don't speak too soon" department. The editors
note that a letter was received a few weeks ago rejoicing over the fact that no
snow had fallen in Buffalo. A few days after the letter arrived, we read in the
newspapers that Buffalo had been buried under a 20-inch snowstorm!
On the more serious side, Buffalo unit has put out. another
issue of its fine publication "Sounds in Space." It contains a great
deal of news and information. The unit has set up a book rental library for the
whole organization of Understanding, Inc., with Marie Henderson acting as
librarian.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Okla.), unit #44, is planning a project
similar to the development project being undertaken by Dan Fry at Merlin, Ore.
A corporation charter has been issued for a nonprofit corporation with three of
its five incorporators members of the unit. Charles Rhoades, unit president, is
temporary president of the new corporation. During January unit #44 heard talks
by Arthur J. Burks on "How to Develop Yourself Spiritually and
Psychically" and "How a New Age Center Can Effect Your Life" and
by Peace Pilgrim on "There is a Way to Peace on Earth."
TOLEDO (Ohio), unit #45, sponsored three lecturers
recently, Laura Mundo Marxer, Durward Fairfield and Dana Howard. Tape
recordings of other speakers have been played and letters from other units have
been read.
SACRAMENTO, unit #46, has taken on the task of setting up
a lecture bureau and speaker's file, through the efforts of Gerald Cooper.
Background information on speakers will be made available through this unit.
Cooper can be contacted at 4331 Turnbridge Drive, Sacramento 23, Calif.
